Watchman No. 47 - DVD

Watchman No. 47 - DVD
Railway guard Douša and his wife Anna save the life of young Ferd, who tries to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train because of his unhappy love. While rescuing him, Douša slips on the embankment and shortly afterwards goes deaf. Ferda soon forgets his sadness and begins to pester Anna, whom he seduces. One day she confides in her husband, unaware that his hearing has returned.
Josef Rovenský, who directed the film, unfortunately did not live to see the premiere. Jan Sviták did the finishing work for him. This is the first and allegedly the best treatment of Kopt's book. The quality of the draft is evidenced by the fact that it was re-filmed in 2008 starring Karel Roden, and even in the USA in 1951 by Hugo Haas, who played the lead role himself.
