Wet fish

Detective Inspector Gereon Rath experiences a city in a frenzy. Cocaine, illegal nightclubs, political street battles—it's a dance on a volcano. The young, ambitious inspector, new to the city and relegated to the vice squad, gets involved, unauthorised, in an investigation led by the homicide department—little does he know he's just stirred up a hornet's nest… A dead man with no identity and signs of bestial torture is a puzzle for the homicide department. Rath discovers a connection to a group of exiled Russians who were planning to buy weapons with smuggled gold to stage a coup. However, others are also after the gold and weapons. Rath comes up against paramilitary units and organised crime. He falls in love with Charly, a stenographer in the homicide department, and uses her inside information for his own lone investigation. In doing so, he becomes more and more entangled in the case.
