Where the catch lies
This autobiographical novel is an account of real people and events that brought honour to some and shame to others. Today, it stands as a historical saga of the 1970s and a gripping crime story made all the more thrilling by being entirely true. The main protagonists are the author, his wife and their wire-haired dachshund, alongside the State Security and the Chartist community. The story ends in October 1979, when Pavel Kohout and Jelena Mašínová are physically prevented from returning to Czechoslovakia after a working trip abroad, forcing them into exile against their will.
