White Lucie: Modi - CD

Pop, but not predictable. Catchy, but not at the expense of synth-pop clichés. Mostly ballads, but not necessarily just melancholic. Lucie Bílá's album is an attractive artistic testament to the current phase of both the life and career of our deservedly and consistently most popular singer.

She and producer Petr Malásek spent almost two years selecting songs, including from abroad, but ultimately, it was Czech songwriters who made the most significant contributions. Alongside one composition by Malásek, you will find melodies from René Rypar and Dalibor Cidlinský, while Radoslav Banga hit the mark twice with his understanding of the singer's nature and mood.
Lyrics are a chapter in themselves. Václav Kopta, Tomáš Belko, and again, Banga of Gipsy.cz, complement nine poems from the estate of Pavel Vrba. The title theme also belongs to Vrba, where Modi is the famous painter Modigliani and the narrator is his fateful model.

Lucie Bílá can certainly pick and choose her collaborators, and her versatility would allow her to record an album in many styles and ways. However, she purposefully chose those who could ideally contribute to creating an often almost chanson-like mood, allowing the singer to perform with complete freedom and the listeners to carefully absorb the important verses and notes.
