Woman in the cage
The first case of Commissioner Carl Morck of Department Q. A worldwide bestseller and the basis for a thriller film.
After a traumatic incident suffered during his service, Commissioner Carl Morck is transferred to the newly established Department Q to deal with unsolved cases from the past. The case of Merete Lynggaard, a young politician who disappeared without a trace five years ago, awakens in him detective instincts he thought had long been extinguished.
He is effectively aided in his search by the peculiar Arab immigrant Asad, whose presence in the work is a source of multicultural tension and many humorous situations. The deeper Carl Morck delves into the case, the more inconsistencies he finds. Is it really possible that the woman is still alive, that she is being held prisoner and abused in an unknown place?

They wrote about the book:
An extraordinarily gripping thriller about a defenceless woman who must endure suffering, a stubborn criminal and a perpetrator who knows no mercy. A thrilling read, and a probe into the dark depths of the human soul. It keeps the reader in suspense until the last line.
