Wonderful summers under the dog

This modern classic from the pen of a popular writer has been entertaining readers for twenty-five years, but it has lost none of its charm. Viewegh's typical irony, biting humour and bitter yet understanding view of human desires are applied in the now notorious coming-of-age story of the sensitive Kvid and his slightly unorthodox family. The return to the years of real socialism has a taste of melancholy; without pity, but faithfully recalls the outrages the regime perpetrated on ordinary people. Besides Kvid, the other tragicomic hero is his father, grafting his coffin in the cellar and clinging to Soviet perestroika.
