Zero hour
A murder that started long before
The "zero hour" is the moment of crime towards which everything is moving. At Lady Tressilian's, at the end of the summer, a strange company assembled: famous tennis player Nevile Strange, his current and former wife, and a couple of men with whom these two women have unresolved love affairs. Tensions in the seaside mansion culminate in the murder of the hostess. Superintendent Battle, who happens to be in a nearby town, has a tough case. Looks like no one had a reason to kill her. But the story began long before the murder...
Agatha Christie
The British writer Agatha Christie is - and rightly so - one of the legends of detective fiction. Her biography has been described and depicted in a number of books (as well as her own autobiography from 1977), and fateful moments from her life have become the subject of a film. The author's extensive bibliography - almost 300 works including theatre and radio plays, romantic prose, a collection of poetry or a collection of poems and short stories for children - is mapped in several encyclopedias (including, among others, lists and characterizations of characters or film, television and theatre adaptations), The secrets of her work are most recently revealed in detail in The Secret Notebooks of Agatha Christie published in 2009 (Czech 2010) and The Thoughtful Murders of Agatha Christie (Czech 2012), two books from the pen of John Curran, who studied in detail 73 volumes of the author's handwritten notes. All of Agatha Christie's detective novels have been published again and again all over the world, and their intelligent, meticulously crafted and, above all, thrilling stories still appeal to millions of readers today.
