MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC PLUS
The MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC PLUS graphics card has 16GB of GDDR7 memory and the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. Thanks to DLSS 4.0 technology with Multi Frame Generation, it delivers high performance in both 4K and 8K resolutions. In Extreme Performance mode, the card has a core frequency of up to 2655MHz and a 256-bit bus, which ensures the smooth running of more demanding games and professional applications. Cooling with TORX Fan 5.0 fans ensures efficient heat dissipation, while the fans stop at lower loads thanks to the Zero Frozr function.
Key features of the MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC PLUS graphics card
- Extreme Performance mode boosts the frequency to 2655MHz for higher frame rates in demanding game titles
- 16GB of GDDR7 memory with a frequency of 30GHz on a 256-bit bus ensures sufficient throughput for large amounts of data
- Fifth-generation Tensor Cores accelerate AI operations that use neural networks to improve the quality of lighting and reflections
- NVIDIA Reflex 2 with Frame Warp reduces input latency to a minimum and shortens the time between mouse movement and the response appearing on screen
- DisplayPort 2.1b outputs support 4K at 480Hz or 8K at 120Hz with DSC compression
Blackwell architecture and AI features
The card uses the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture with a GB203 chip, which contains 10752 CUDA cores organised into enhanced streaming multiprocessors. These units are optimised for processing by neural shaders, which use neural networks instead of traditional code. Fifth-generation Tensor Cores support the FP4 format and enable AI models to run with higher throughput. DLSS 4.0 introduces Multi Frame Generation, which can generate up to three frames between two standard rendered frames.
Cooling system
The cooling system combines three TORX Fan 5.0 fans with a large heatsink. Each fan is fitted with two sets of ball bearings to reduce noise during rotation. A nickel-plated copper baseplate makes direct contact with the GPU chip and memory modules, improving heat dissipation. The heat pipes have a square cross-section where they contact the GPU, maximising the surface area for heat transfer. The pipes are filled with a heat transfer medium and distribute heat evenly across the entire surface of the heatsink. Ventilation holes in the backplate allow air to pass through to the heatsink. The Zero Frozr function monitors the GPU temperature and turns the fans off at values below 60°C, ensuring silent operation.
Construction and software
The custom PCB contains a copper layer that improves conductivity and heat dissipation from the power circuits. The PCB also includes additional fuses to protect sensitive components from overcurrent and short circuits. MSI Center is an application that lets you monitor temperatures, frequencies and voltages in real time. It includes an AI Tuning function that analyses the system load and automatically adjusts the GPU frequency according to the type of application running. Extreme Performance mode increases the frequency to 2655MHz. Silent Mode reduces fan speeds and prioritises lower noise over performance. MSI Afterburner offers manual overclocking with the option to adjust voltage, clocks and fans.
