Gold, silver, sandalwood, pearls, ivory, monkeys, and peacocks. According to the Bible, the legendary Ophir was a land of unbelievable wealth. It’s no wonder, then, that one of the main trade routes, the Spice Route, must have passed through it. Travellers and merchants on their way from Asia to Europe and back also visited many other locations. It is the fascinating botanicals from some of these places that form the basis of Opihr: Malaysian cubeb berries, Persian black lemons, Indian pepper, Spanish orange peel, Turkish cumin and grapefruit peel, German angelica root, Indian cardamom and ginger, Indian black pepper, Italian juniper, and Moroccan coriander. As if that wasn't enough, the gin itself is produced in England's oldest distillery using a traditional method dating back to 1761. All this naturally leads to one inevitable conclusion – a rich gin full of the oriental aromas of cumin, cardamom and citrus peel, with a beautifully sweet, spicy and bold flavour.
