How to choose the right battery
When choosing a replacement or new battery, it's important to focus on the specifications provided by the camera manufacturer. Pay particular attention to the product label. The battery usually lists the voltage (V) and battery capacity (mAh/Wh). The type designation of the battery is also important (e.g. LI-40B).
Battery capacity
Battery capacity is listed in mAh. It typically ranges from 700 to 1,400 mAh. The higher the capacity, the more pictures you can take with your camera.
- Up to 1,000 mAh - batteries with a capacity of up to 1,000 mAh are mostly used in compact cameras. Allows you to take up to 350 pictures on a single charge.
- Over 1,000 mAh - used mainly for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Usually allows you to take up to 500 pictures on a single charge.
