Otrivin Menthol nasal spray for the treatment of blocked nose 1 mg/ml, 10 ml
Otrivin Menthol is a nasal spray designed to quickly relieve nasal congestion in acute or allergic rhinitis, sinusitis or otitis media, where it helps reduce swelling of the nasopharynx. It can also be used before a professional examination of the nose. It contains the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride, which reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and facilitates breathing within minutes. The effect starts within 2 minutes and lasts up to 12 hours. Otrivin Menthol is indicated for adults and adolescents from 12 years of age and is well tolerated even by patients with sensitive nasal mucosa. In addition, it contains menthol and cineol, which contribute to a pleasant feeling of freshness.
Dosage
Adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older should apply one injection in each nostril one to three times per day as needed, with a maximum of three applications per nostril per day. The last dose should be taken shortly before bedtime. The spray is applied using a dosing pump, which is ready for use after pressing it several times. The bottle should only be used by one person to prevent transmission of infection.
Contraindications
Otrivin Menthol must not be used by people who are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any other component of the product. It is not suitable for patients who have undergone intracranial surgery through the nose, have glaucoma with narrow angle or suffer from dry rhinitis (rhinitis sicca). Also, do not use it during pregnancy. Caution is needed if you are taking antidepressants from the MAO inhibitor group or tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants.
Notice
The product may cause side effects such as insomnia, dizziness, tremors, heart rhythm disturbances or increased blood pressure in susceptible individuals. Consult a physician before use, if you suffer from high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, enlarged prostate or pheochromocytoma. Otrivin Menthol should not be used for more than 7 consecutive days as there is a risk of re-aggravation of the problem or damage to the mucous membrane. The product is not intended for administration to the eyes or mouth and should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
Storage
Keep Otrivin Menthol out of the sight and reach of children at a temperature below 25 °C. Do not use it after the expiry date stated on the packaging after the term "EXP", which refers to the last day of the month indicated. Do not dispose of unused product in sewage or general waste, but return it to the pharmacy to ensure its environmentally sound disposal.
