Pyridoxine Medication 20 mg 20 tablets

Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is a water-soluble vitamin. Pyridoxine plays an important role in the activity of various enzymes that are necessary for the breakdown and utilization of proteins, sugars and fats from food and for the conversion of storage sugars in the liver and muscles into energy, for normal function of the central nervous system and skin. Vitamin B6 is important for the production of red blood cells and antibodies. A deficiency of vitamin B6 in the body is usually associated with a deficiency of the entire B group of vitamins and is manifested by weakness, irritability, skin diseases, inflammation of the oral cavity and tongue and chapped lips. Changes in the red blood count may occur, convulsions may occur in children.
The required daily dose of vitamin B6 depends on age and dietary protein intake and is about 2.2 mg per day for adults. The product is usually used on the advice of a physician in adults, adolescents and children for the prevention and treatment of conditions associated with vitamin B6 deficiency. Without consulting a physician, Pyridoxine Medication may be used to prevent deficiency in adults. Increased vitamin B6 requirements are e.g. in some inherited metabolic diseases, in case of malabsorption from the intestines, in alcoholism, for rapid weight loss in patients with unilateral nutrition, when taking certain medications, e.g. in the treatment of tuberculosis with isoniazid, in women taking anti-conception pills. There may also be increased requirements during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The package contains 20 tablets.
