Karimatka samozřejmě neobsahuje pumpičku, jde o chybný popisek.
Při přípravě na spaní nebo ležení stačí povolit ventil a karimatka se sama, během cca 5-ti minut, nafoukne. Je možné napomoci rychlejšímu nafouknutí ústy, popřípadě tím lze docílit větší tuhosti karimatky. V některých případech je nutné karimatku při prvních dvou použitích ústy dofouknout, aby se pěna uvnitř roztáhla na patřičnou tloušťku a následně se již snadno nafukovala sama.
