I accidentally selected some Asian language with the rear joystick - klikyhaki. I couldn't find the button combination - there's only one in the joystick, to do a factory reset, it can only be done through the menu. So I had to scroll through the various entries in the clickables quite randomly, until after a rather long while a sign appeared in Latin with the name of a language, and then it was easy. Beware if you don't know the menu structure by heart.
