The device doesn't have much competition. Which is quite visible - minimal innovation, very poor ergonomics, high price.
Works - reports when you forget to turn it off and take the baby out, or when the baby slides out of reach of the pad (once it's a little more mobile)
The first piece stopped working after about a year
The cable connections are rather desperately badly mis-wired - you plug the pad cable in exactly where the hanging bracket hits the edge of the cot
The attached cable is therefore bent and squeezed between the cot and the device
The alarm could start quietly and get louder - a mad whistle at 2am will please no one
For the price, it could have a rechargeable battery so that you don't have to buy several packs of batteries and have to look for 4 charged pencil batteries at night

The second claim was rejected for sure - although photo proof was provided (alza unfortunately does not support sending video). I DO NOT recommend this device, but because of the service approach, neither does the brand.
