Compared to an older and more expensive grinder from another manufacturer, it lacks a cover underneath (which I used to appreciate especially with a baby, who didn't make a mess around the apartment when he got to the grinder). With the first open-filled grinder I was afraid it would crack in my hand (the material is plastic, not stainless steel). Really hard to open the first time. The older grinder had a more rounded top edge at the button, which was more comfortable to hold, but it's probably more of a habit.
