It has quite clever dimensions and overall design, it doesn't leak, so far after about a month it doesn't smell of fuel. There is an obvious effort to ensure quality workmanship.
The comrades (this time not from the GDR, but our northern ones) made a mistake, that they did not equip the otherwise handy pouring attachment with a seal in the overflow. Simply solved with a flat ring made of tech. rubber, in the appropriate size..: -)
The funnel lacked a seal and so it was to be expected that it would leak when pouring. Tekla. Luckily I still had a 5l canister with a funnel, I just used the new one with the nut changed. After that it was ok to use it.
The funnel looks like a failed casting when compared to another of the 5l canisters.
