I wanted to try upgrading from SB 5.1 Xfi after a decade.
It's not a big difference, but it's there. Especially in headphones you can hear it, beautifully clear sound. (ATH-T500)
But even together with the Logitech Z906 everything sounds very good. At least music (kort in flac) and games. I watch movies on my TV with an AV receiver.
The difference from the X-fi 5.1 is not that big. Maybe I'd stick with the original sound system. But since I have it, I'll keep it, the improvement is there.
