I listened to the K11 R2R for a year. I'd read that its younger, more powerful brother, the K13 R2R, is definitely better in every way, and I can confirm that. It’s not just about the higher performance and therefore better control over planar headphones with more headroom (for me, via the 4.4mm Pentaconn); it’s also about a slightly more detailed sound with greater dynamics and a wider soundstage. The sound is better controlled, fuller, but in my opinion, a tiny bit sharper, yet it remains very musical and pleasant thanks to the R2R architecture. I have it on high gain, and if I want to enjoy music really loudly while still having it completely under control, I turn the volume dial to 50, which the neighbours probably wouldn't be too thrilled about at midnight. The power consumption is 6.5 watts at 50 volume. The device itself doesn't get very hot. In standby, it's 2.5 watts. My current setup is Spotify -> Android phone -> Poweramp EQ (Harman) -> K13 R2R -> Edition XS -> my ears -> good mood. I don't think even audiophiles (which I don't count myself as) could find anything to complain about with this. I'm just an audio enthusiast for whom music has become a pleasure. My recommendation for enthusiasts on a budget like me is: go ahead and buy this piece of kit, you won't regret it.
