My original Garmin chest strap, about 20 years old, started showing my heart rate well over 200. I didn't know if it was faulty or if it was me. I first tried replacing it with this new non-original strap, and it turned out to be the old one. My heart rate returned to normal. I was so relieved.

The electrodes are glued directly into the rubber, which has a lifespan of about 2 years, so after it stretches out I'll have to deal with it by cutting off the stretched piece with the electrodes and sewing on new rubber.
