It detects OK on the breaker screws, in the socket only after inserting the k into the phase socket, so without a VDE screwdriver it is not possible to reliably measure the presence of voltage in the socket, which has flaps against children. When detecting voltage in a multicore cable, it only detects the presence if it is attached at the location of the phase conductor.
