I have tried it on bushes and smaller trees, it works perfectly. I immediately discarded the cheap Fieldmann product with a hand pump that didn't work very well.
For indoor plants, it is ideal to switch on the spray or the thin stream of water. Perhaps it could only indicate the need to change the batteries, otherwise it can only be known by the fact that it stops pumping water.
