I'm pretty happy with them, I won't change them, but they have some pretty major negatives. That they are 5W speakers is one thing. But years ago they sold 5W speakers (all plastic! but quite high) Genius SP-U150. They had amplification and letting go right at the front of the speaker and absolutely brilliant and clear sound quality in this power range (bass reflex, good depth. etc. ). Expect distortion everywhere with 5W speakers at higher volume. With the previous SP-U150s, the cable between the left and right gradually went away. These speakers -Genius SP HF280- have one key feature: sound quality incomparable to anything else in the 5W USB speakers here and for that reason I recommend to take them. But everything else about them is a total horror that you can live with if you learn to use it and get used to it. The speakers either hum or buzz and cannot be turned off (even with the amplifier ON CABLE). The only way not to go crazy with the PC off is to 1) choose a gain level somewhere in the middle, where there is minimal noise when the PC is on and minimal hum when the PC is off (noise on one side, hum on the other), then NEVER touch that gain wheel again. The sound will be just right (you can adjust the volume in Windows or directly in YouTube, e.g. ), and if you want complete silence when the computer is turned off, you have to plug the speakers into a USB port on the computer that disconnects from power when the computer is turned off completely. (some USB C hubs do not do this or USB plugs directly into the power supply. networks don't do it either, of course) and you will still have some noise when the PC is switched off. So for the laptop, forget about S3 standby (sleep mode), because the USB current will not turn off, the speakers will fizzle. You have to learn how to use hibernation and set it as a normal way of "sleeping", although it takes about 10 seconds to start the PC on a modenrím laptop with SSD, but when going into hibernation the power is always cut off from the USB and the speakers are silent. (The USB-C hub doesn't cut off power even when completely shut down, but as I said, just plug it straight into USB-A directly on the PC). Because of the sound quality (at normal volume) I have to recommend the speakers. They will give you amplification, but it's better to leave the knob in the center position where it neither buzzes nor hums (especially with the PC off) and then control the volume in Windows/Youtube/VLC etc. Don't look for better sound quality from competitors at this price (at least on Alza), the HF in the name (high fidelity) is rightly there. At low volume, they can match even good quality large and heavy boxes.

If you prefer to go to those cheap TRUST speakers because of the buttons, then forget about it very quickly, because from those Trusts comes absolutely horrible sound (as if someone was talking through a semi), whereas from these, albeit with less volume (because of the rexing) comes sound comparable to large 50W boxes.
HF = high fidelity is rightly in the name, don't buy other 5W geniuses, forget about Trust

Like, what did I expect for a couple hundred. The sound wouldn't offend me for the money, but it hisses unbearably when connected to a power source (USB).
