I’m not exactly an expert – more of a layman with no specific requirements when it comes to picture quality – so I bought the Mission 1 Pro mainly on the basis of recommendations from reviews. I like the fact that if I’ve owned a previous GoPro, I won’t get lost in the menu, even though it’s been redesigned – and, in my opinion, for the better. In terms of practical observations, I must highlight the raised buttons, the fast Quick Capture mode, the longer battery life, and what is probably genuinely less heat build-up. I do miss the 2.7K resolution a bit, as that’s the one I use most often on the GoPro 10. Full HD is sometimes not quite enough, whilst 4K is overkill for my purposes, both in terms of file size and the longer processing time in editing software. The Burst slow-motion mode is brilliant; I’m currently playing around with it more out of curiosity than because I actually need it: ) I also bought a Connecto door for the camera (it allows you to charge the camera and transfer data without having to open the door or remove the card). I don’t use the supplied lens hood; the camera is too bulky for me with it on. For a stable setup – perhaps for on-board video from go-karts, where I won’t be constantly tucking the camera away in my pocket – I’ll probably use it.
Compared to the GoPro Hero 10, this camera has improved significantly when filming high-contrast scenes – we have a light-coloured and a dark-coloured dog, and when filming in the shade against a light background, the black dog is much more visible than with the GoPro Hero 10.
