The set of plates has a nice decor, the nicest is probably on the dessert plates because the decor is on both sides, on the remaining plates the design is only on one side (the design is a bit rough to the touch). The deep plates look smaller and shallower to me, I can't fit much soup in there. I was most disappointed that the plate is porcelain, but it is very thin porcelain so I think they will be broken very soon. I've had my old set of plates for about 11 years, I'm giving these a year's life
