I was converting my smart home from Wi-Fi to ZigBee. ZigBee can run simple commands locally. This means a button will turn on a light or perform a set action whether the internet is working or not.
The number of devices grew to almost 75 and my old ZigBee gateway couldn't keep up, often resulting in delays and freezes. This one was recommended to me as it can handle a lot of devices and is stable and fast because it's powerful and connects via LAN. However, after just a few weeks, I found that it would freeze for no reason at all. I'd come home and couldn't turn on a light. I'd find that nothing on ZigBee was working. In the app, everything looked OK and online, but nothing would respond to being switched on. I'd restart the ZigBee gateway and suddenly everything would work. I thought, OK, it happens, I'll set up a daily scheduled restart and everything will be fine. 8 days later, it happened again, nothing worked. After a manual restart, everything was running again. So I thought, right, I'll restart it several times a day. After 15 days, another complete freeze and nothing worked. I have the latest update and firmware. It often happens that after a restart, it responds to button presses with confusing delays, even though it's usually fast. If I cancel the restarts, delays also occur at random intervals. But the main problem is the complete freezing when you least expect it and suddenly can't control anything.
Instead, I tried the "IMMAX NEO MULTI BRIDGE PRO 230V Smart Zigbee 3.0, BT v4" Wi-Fi ZigBee gateway, and with the exact same devices, it has been working for over a month without any freezing whatsoever. So can someone explain to me why this more powerful LAN gateway freezes and is actually worse than a Wi-Fi gateway that costs less than half the price?
