Since my JBL GO 3 is slowly going to silicon heaven, I logically reached for a replacement. But I haven't read the reviews thoroughly. The glowing crap is probably appealing to most people, but it doesn't mean anything to people who didn't grow up at a techno party, a nozzle or a carousel. And the biggest pain of this product is that you can't COMPLETELY turn that shit off. So, for example. you turn up the volume and the speaker has to let you know by turning on the annoying LED light, and it doesn't matter if you do it on the speaker or over the phone. Likewise, it lights up (only the top one) when plugged in and doesn't play anything. If it's playing, at least you can turn it off there. It's really uncomfortable at night. So the classic, electrician's tape or a fix will cure it. I doubt they'll fix it with an update. If I knew that, I wouldn't buy it. I have the black variant, so the poisonous white light there is really brutal. It might be better with other colour variants, but this one didn't work and should be taken into account. Otherwise, it's a classic durable speaker that can be dropped x times on the ground or in water and be OK.
