For home use, the MacBook Air with macOS is probably just fine and I highly recommend it. For professional use, if you are working with many applications divided into multiple external monitors or parts of them, it is not very suitable. Likewise if you use special Win-only applications at work. Personally, I need three virtual desktops and several instances of the same application on them. On macOS, after one day of constant clicking and searching for the right one in the background, I gave up and returned the MacBook.
