Pocket size
Map in the guide
I generally really like the pocket-sized Lonely Planet guides. This guide isn't bad; it contains all the essential information. It doesn’t go into much detail about hiking options in Madeira – just the basics – whereas, for my taste, it goes into far too much detail about the various dining options, but that’s just my personal opinion.

I learnt a little bit
It’s really tiny and extremely cluttered; it’s useless when you’re out and about and a waste of space at home. At home, they’ll find a larger, more clearly laid-out book more useful; a small book would be handy for travelling, but definitely not this one. It should be shorter and in a larger font. This looks like a cheap translation. Someone wrote it, someone translated it, but nobody bothered to think about who it was actually intended for
