Cheap, pretty solid, I have 2 and they both measure the same, they just have about 2°C deviation, it wouldn't matter, but the bigger problem is the measuring mechanism. The bimetal for temperature measurement is within about 2-5cm from the tip which for accurate measurement of the centre of the meat is really a problem and needs to be taken into account.
