After collecting it from Alzabox, I put the thermometer in my rucksack, and it BROKE whilst I was out on a normal bike ride. The metal part of the thermometer is less than a millimetre thick and bends quite easily, but the glass tube containing the mercury cannot bend in the same way as the metal base, so it cracked.
