It works for barking. But my friend had to adjust the collar. First he tried it on himself so we could see what kind of blow the dog might get - and I think it would kill our female (12 kg, smaller). So a home modification was necessary to make the collar give only weak impulses.

Strong blow - definitely not suitable for smaller dogs
Put it on the dog right away, he'll go crazy at the very least.
