I bought the socket with the understanding that it can connect to Apple HomeKit. I got caught out a bit (I assume it wasn't in the HomeKit section on purpose). You can't do that directly - without a Hue Bridge (central unit)! However, I found a suitable use for it at home.
Works reliably with the app even without the central unit
Unfortunately, without an additional device (central HUE unit), you cannot connect directly to Apple HomeKit.
