It seems to me that the book didn't really have a plot, the night didn't happen in it. It uses a slightly uncanny plot to portray life in the borderlands of Poland and Belarus, especially the traditional life of the local inhabitants with their traditions, values and their slight tendency to believe in the supernatural powers of the old septuplets - healers. On the one hand, it was easy and quick to read, one has no problem visualizing the situation to the last detail, but it is not a book I would read again or buy for someone.
