SodaStream gets a huge thumbs-up for this. In the new product range, they’ve sorted out all the issues that used to annoy us. Inserting the CO2 is incredibly simple, thanks to the snap-in system. No more fiddling with screws. The same goes for inserting and removing the water bottle – once again, no more fiddly screwing; you simply click the bottle into place and remove it just as easily.
The lever system is absolutely brilliant, and not just in terms of design (it makes you feel like a proper pro behind the bar: D) but also in terms of functionality, as the lever is within easy reach and the beading is very easy to control. The whole thing feels solid and well-made; nothing creaks or squeaks anywhere. When I put the old generator from the previous series next to this magnificent one, the original looks like a toy from Temu.
The new bottles are also a step forward, both in terms of their appearance (at first glance, they look as if they’re made of glass) or in terms of functionality, as the metal insert at the bottom helps keep the drink cold and can also be easily removed for washing, so there’s no more dirt accumulating underneath it.
SodaStream has really outdone itself here! 11/10
