The original packaging in which the microphone arrived would obviously have been pre-unpacked (it was not advertised as unpacked. ). The microphone came back broken. Considering the price, it's not even worth returning, but after opening the base of the microphone, it seems that someone has tried to fix it in the past in a rather amateurish way.
