I was looking for a USB Type-C hub with Power Delivery that would work with an iPad (Air 4th generation in my case) and could change power roles with a device connected. I connected the hub to the iPad with an SSD drive in the hub. The iPad sees the files. The hub and drive are now being powered by the iPad's battery. I start a file transfer between the drive and the iPad.
I connect the charger via the hub's PD input. The iPad swaps power roles with the hub and starts charging. The file transfer isn't interrupted and continues. For this price, it's a superb product and I can recommend it. It isn't metal, but if you're going to have it on your desk where you need to connect up to 4 devices with a modern connector (USB Type-C), it's the ideal choice. I'm super happy.
Cheap, fast, with a relatively long cable, so it will find a place on the desk.
