I bought this WHIRLPOOL TDLRBX 6252BS EU washing machine because the specifications stated that it was a quiet washing machine featuring new technologies, with a noise level of 72 dB.
I did everything exactly as per the instructions: They removed the transport bolts, levelled the washing machine using a spirit level to within +/- 1 degree, and connected it to the water supply via the supplied valve, which complies with EN 61770 / DIN standards (part number C0084677). I put 3 kg of bed linen in the machine, added 150 g of washing powder to compartment II, and set the ‘Mixed’ programme to 40 °C and 800 rpm. I pressed START.
And that’s when the real ‘magic’ began:
The washing machine started filling up with such a rush, as if the water weren’t flowing from a pipe two metres away, but was being pumped from a well half a kilometre deep.
Although the drum did rotate during the wash cycle itself, at certain points it would rub slightly and make a loud screeching noise.
The real climax, however, came during the rinsing and spinning cycles. The sound of the washing machine was like a military helicopter taking off in a closed room, or an air-raid siren. It was extremely traumatic. What’s more, this washing machine – which, on paper, was supposed to be the ‘quietest’ – started bouncing and shuffling about the bathroom, so that by the end of the cycle it had moved a few centimetres and bumped into the pipework.
I did end up doing the washing, but luckily it was the weekend and the neighbours were away; otherwise, they’d probably have called the police on me because of the noise. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a huge disappointment – it’s nowhere near the advertised 72 dB. So he made a complaint about the WHIRLPOOL TDLRBX 6252BS EU washing machine and returned it. It’s good that Alza.cz understood my situation and took this ‘creeping noise generator’ back without charging me anything extra. I will never buy WHIRLPOOL products again because the specifications given by WHIRLPOOL do not reflect reality.
