I wanted to switch to this from my first-generation Amazfit Balance because I don't like the newer Amazfits – they're too sporty. On the other hand, their setup is simpler, with the option to select a non-European region to access health features like blood pressure monitoring, sleep apnoea, etc. Xiaomi can do this too, provided I can cope with the app in Chinese and use the Chinese version of Mi Fitness, but blood pressure doesn't work with the global version; the calibration wouldn't start for me. At the same time, I can't get over the different controls, with no option to customise, for example, the buttons and their behaviour for short and long presses. So, after a brief trial, I'm returning it straight away and will be looking to see if Amazfit makes something of high quality but less sporty. Alternatively, I might just have to suck it up; it has blood pressure monitoring and other functions when the region is set to somewhere like Singapore within the standard app and in English/Czech.

I bought this watch as my third smartwatch, after the first two broke down. I've been wearing this one for a while now and it survives a manufacturing environment. So, it's resistant to bumping into door frames, catching on the edge of a locker, etc. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quick pairing and fast OS, where you can customise the menu. The display is great – it reacts to ambient light, so you always know what time it is (yes, even in direct sunlight!). I recommend enabling the touch-to-wake function – it's really handy! I also bought a textile strap straight away, which makes them fit like a glove and is absolutely flawless. After my negative experience of buying a cheaper smartwatch from a Czech company selling Chinese clones, these are top-notch and only cost a few hundred crowns more!

I had the Xiaomi Watch S3 before, which I drowned in the sea, so I knew what I was getting into. Compared to the S3, this is a big step forward in terms of system performance, display readability, and battery life.
