HiFi Amplifier Shanling EA5 Plus comes with a new generation of its versatile power amplifier. Most of the equipment remains the same, but some bugs of the original EA5 have been fixed and its versatility has been enhanced. Now, instead of the original 50W per channel, the EA5 has a full 100W at 4 Ohms, so it's a twofold increase that you'll notice immediately, and thanks to this relatively small unit you can drive much larger boxes. The top side is equipped with a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 × 720 px. It is used to control most of the device options. A specially modified closed android was chosen as the operating system, with popular streaming services - Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz and others - already pre-installed.

On the front, there is a volume wheel and a 6.35mm headphone output. The back of the unit is more interesting, there is one analogue RCA output and one RCA input. There are also 3 digital inputs - coaxial, optical and USB. Like the EM5, there is also an Ethernet, USB flash drive slot and AC power input. Plus, there's a stereo speaker output. Of course, Bluetooth with LDAC, LHDC and aptX HD support can't be missing from the complete package. There's also Wi-Fi, which supports both 2.4G and 5G transmission. Like the EM5, the EA5 offers the option to connect to your phone using the Shanling app. You can use it to remotely control and set up the device.
Top performance
One of the biggest changes from the previous model is the increase in the output power of the speaker amplifier, which Shanling achieved by changing the chip. Now, instead of the previous D-class Abletec ALC0100, the new D-class ICEpower 100AS2 chip is in the device. With the EA5 Plus, you should have no problem powering a large number of tower speakers. For this, like the previous model, it has a separate headphone amplifier circuit. It is the same as the previous generation, hence the dual TPA6120A2. Also included is the DAC chip, which is the AKM AK4493EQ. EA5 Plus is compatible with MQA listening format. Also present in the device are CPAF low-pass filter chips and KDS brand crystal oscillators coupled to a 3rd generation FPGA. Everything is of course encased in a premium-looking aluminium body with a glass top, primarily for the display.
