Nordic walking trekking poles Nordic walking poles are designed to maximise the energy expended when walking – they engage the upper half of the body when walking by forcing the arms to help move forward and backward by bouncing the spike off the ground. The sticks are held at a 45° angle with the points driven in behind the body. They have attachable rubber spikes for walking on hard surfaces such as sidewalks. The straps are more like gloves to help with the extended swinging motion of the arms.
