The Teltonika RUTM16 router provides mobile and wired network connectivity in industrial environments. This desktop device is powered by a dual-core 880MHz MediaTek processor, complemented by 256MB of RAM and 16MB of flash memory. The integrated Telit LTE Cat 6 modem is designed for worldwide use in demanding IoT projects. The device supports eSIM technology for remote management of profiles, eliminating the need to manually swap physical cards. The anodised aluminium chassis protects the internal components from external elements and simplifies deployment in industrial automation, transport, or at point-of-sale terminals.

Global mobile connectivity
The LTE Cat 6 modem downloads data at speeds of up to 300Mbps and uploads at 50Mbps. The system automatically switches between two SIM cards and the integrated eSIM based on network parameters. The device maintains a stable connection even during an outage of the primary operator. A wide range of supported frequencies simplifies deployment across different network regions.
Interface options
The design includes five gigabit Ethernet ports, with one dedicated WAN and four LAN interfaces at 1Gbit speed. The wired connection is complemented by dual-band Wi-Fi 5 with support for Mesh and Fast Roaming technologies. The local network can serve up to 150 wireless users simultaneously. The configuration is used to segment the network into 128 virtual VLANs. The USB 2.0 port connects external drives with FAT32, exFAT or NTFS file systems.
Industrial protocols
The network element communicates using standard industrial protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, DNP3, and DLMS. These protocols are used to collect and transmit data from industrial sensors directly to cloud platforms. The software features advanced tools for converting data between different formats. The system supports direct connection to Azure and AWS platforms.
Data security
The integrated firewall filters network traffic based on set rules and prevents DoS attacks. Users can configure encrypted tunnels using IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard or Tailscale protocols. WPA3 security standards protect wireless transmission from unauthorised access. The system also includes tools for web content filtering and certificate management.
RMS remote management
The Linux-based RutOS operating system allows for complete customisation of settings via the web interface. The RMS cloud system provides oversight of the entire device fleet without needing a public IP address. Users can remotely update firmware and change configuration profiles in bulk. The JSON-RPC interface is used for integration into custom systems.
Durability and installation
The IP30-rated metal casing withstands temperatures from -40°C to 75°C. Power is supplied via an industrial four-pin connector or passive PoE in the 9–50VDC range. The BAT120 backup battery takes over powering the router for up to 6 hours during a power failure (not included). The design supports DIN rail or wall mounting using optional accessories.
