The Teltonika RUTM20 5G router provides wireless and wired connectivity for industrial installations and Internet of Things systems. It transmits data via fifth-generation mobile networks and also supports older standards. The metal body protects the internal components from external damage in demanding environments. Its compact size makes it easy to mount in cabinets with limited space. The network device operates in a wide temperature range from -40°C to 75°C.

Mobile connectivity
It contains an integrated Telit modem for global mobile networks. Sub-6GHz bands provide download speeds of up to 3.4Gbps and upload speeds of up to 900Mbps. The mobile module supports both SA and NSA architectures for optimal use of available infrastructure. Two physical SIM card slots are complemented by an integrated eSIM that can store up to seven profiles. Automatic switching between cards responds to signal drops or data limit breaches.
Power over Ethernet
The network element uses active PoE standard power for operation. The WAN port functions as a PoE-in input compatible with 802.3af and 802.3at standards. The second LAN port provides PoE-out power for connected peripheral devices with a consumption of up to 30W. This solution reduces the cost of laying separate power cables for IP cameras or sensors. An industrial four-pin connector with a DC voltage from 9V to 50V can also be used.
Wired interfaces
Local network connectivity is provided by two gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet ports with automatic MDI/MDIX cable crossover detection. Wireless transmission is handled by dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) with speeds up to 867Mbps. The integrated wireless access point can serve up to 150 connected users simultaneously. Four SMA antenna connectors for the mobile network and two RP-SMA connectors for Wi-Fi are used for transmitting and receiving waves.
Industrial protocols and management
The RutOS operating system, built on the OpenWrt platform, offers extensive configuration and network management options. It communicates using standard industrial protocols such as Modbus TCP, MQTT, OPC UA, and DNP3. Remote management via the RMS cloud system simplifies monitoring a large number of deployed units without a public IP address. Administrators can remotely update firmware, change settings, or monitor data transfer statistics.
Network security
The integrated firewall allows you to define advanced rules for traffic filtering and port forwarding. Security standards include WPA2 and WPA3 encryption and 802.1x authentication to protect wireless transmissions. The hardware TPM version 2.0 encryption module enhances security when storing cryptographic keys. DoS attack prevention protects the network from being overwhelmed by malicious traffic from the internet.
Virtual private networks
The router supports the creation of encrypted tunnels for securely connecting remote branches or accessing company data. Technologies available include OpenVPN with support for 27 encryption methods, IPsec, GRE, PPTP, and L2TP. The implementation of modern WireGuard and Tailscale protocols speeds up configuration and increases the throughput of encrypted transmissions. The system also supports SSTP clients and ZeroTier for flexible private network building.
