Omeprazole belongs to a group of drugs called "proton pump inhibitors", they work by reducing the amount of acid that forms in the stomach. Omeprazole Teva Pharma is used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (e.g. heartburn, acid regurgitation). Reflux is the return of acidic stomach contents back into the esophagus, where it can cause inflammation and pain. This can cause symptoms such as: painful burning sensation in the chest rising up to the mouth (heartburn) sour feeling in the mouth (acid regurgitation) and difficulty swallowing pressure behind the breastbone bloating belching feeling like vomiting/vomiting (upset stomach) cramps bad breath hiccups.
The registered medicinal product Omeprazole Teva 10 mg is indicated for the treatment of:
for reflux symptoms
- short-term treatment of reflux symptoms in adults (e.g. heartburn, acid regurgitation)
Dosage and method of use
The recommended dosage of Omeprazole Teva Pharma for treatment without consulting a physician is two 10 mg capsules once daily for 14 days. See your doctor if the symptoms do not go away during this time. Sometimes it may be necessary to take the capsules for 2-3 consecutive days before symptoms improve. Only adult patients should take Omeprazole Teva Pharma, 10 mg without a doctor's recommendation.
Contraindications
Omeprazole Teva Pharma contains sucrose. If your doctor has told you that you are intolerant to certain sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you think, that you might be pregnant, or you're planning to get pregnant, check with your doctor or pharmacist first, before taking this medicine. Read the package insert carefully.
Storage
Always keep the product out of sight and reach of children. Store at temperatures up to 30 °C. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
