TEXTILOMANIE Impermeable terry mattress protector for cot 70 x 120 cm
Mattress protection is more important than you think. Everyone naturally sweats, whether they are a child or an adult. During the night you sweat up to a litre of fluid, which soaks into the sheet and the mattress core. A mattress protector increases overall bed hygiene. What is more, it protects against mechanical damage, dirt, dust mites, sweat and urine. It is suitable for cots or first beds, but also has its place for adults as standard mattress protection, or for seniors and long-term bedbound patients. The waterproof protector creates a protective, liquid-proof layer. You do not need to worry about the feeling of sleeping on plastic, as the top layer of the protector consists of skin-friendly, soft-touch microfibre.
Impermeable layer
Waterproof mattress protectors feature special technology that ensures liquid absorption while maintaining comfort. The impermeable part consists of a polypropylene layer on the underside of the protector, closest to the mattress. The soft microfibre top layer ensures comfort during sleep, with hollow fibre sandwiched between these layers. Hollow fibre offers excellent insulating properties, being lightweight and resistant to flattening. It prevents the occurrence of dust mites, mould and bacteria, making it suitable for allergy and asthma sufferers. Securing it to the mattress is easy. Simply attach the waterproof mattress protectors to both cot and standard large mattresses. Each protector features four flexible yet strong elastic straps in the corners, which you easily stretch and hook under the mattress. The strong elastic ensures the protector does not slip during sleep but stays firmly in place.
Extending mattress lifespan
Maintaining mattress protectors is incredibly easy. Wash and dry the protector thoroughly before first use. To maintain the required properties, especially impermeability, we recommend washing at a maximum temperature of 60 °C. Wash the protector when you change your bed linen, ideally once every 14 days. After washing, let the protector air-dry naturally; we do not recommend using a tumble dryer. Under no circumstances should you boil, bleach or use other chemical products on it. There is no need to iron the microfibre top layer. Once washed and dried, it is perfectly hygienically clean and ready for use again.
Do you know who sleeps with you?
You might think the only one you share a bed with is your partner or a pet dog, but you would be mistaken. Unfortunately, dust mites sleep with you too. Beds provide the perfect conditions for them, as they need the warmth and moisture of bedding and mattresses. They only require darkness, humidity and a temperature around 24 °C to thrive. They get these conditions every night when you sweat up to a litre of fluid and shed around 1.5g of skin flakes. Even if a mattress looks like new and meets all your requirements, the hygiene reality is much worse. Over several years of use, a mattress accumulates dust mites and their waste. This can lead to the development of asthma, allergies or atopic eczema. It is crucial to protect your mattress, which extends its lifespan and increases bed hygiene. Using a mattress protector is the solution. You can regularly air the protector in winter and summer, exposing it to high and low temperatures.
