Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs takes place after the events of Gloomhaven and Forgotten Circles. The reclusive Hail of Aesther has earned a reputation as a woman who has a great deal to do with saving the town from recurring disasters and absolutely hates it. Would-be heroes constantly intrude on her studies at Crooked Bone, seeking help to become famous themselves - not to mention all the demons that come seeking revenge. She briefly considered moving, but since it would require effort, she preferred to just charm the front door: Anyone who tries to open them will shrink and therefore no longer pose a problem.

Survive in a realm of danger and reclaim your greatness

Your character is one of those would-be heroes. In an ill-advised attempt to gain fame, he attempts to visit Hail a Puff. Now they are as big as a mouse and have entered an entirely different realm of lawlessness and self-preservation. They must find a new way into Crooked Bone and convince Hail to return them to their original size.

One card, a few enemies and endless possibilities for victory

Each scenario consists of a single card that pits one mercenary against a handful of enemies with simplified actions and AI. Each mercenary has only four double-sided cards in his hand, but he can use them twice - front and back - before discarding them. Attacks are resolved using dice in combination with the modifier table, and both the table and the mercenary ability cards can be upgraded as you level up during the campaign.
