Masek Puppet Spejbl, 27 cm

Hello, my name is Spejbl and I am the oldest character of the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre. I'm the father of Hurvinek, a comic character with a booming voice who makes everything a bit confusing. In my conversations with Hurvínek, there are often generational disputes, in which I am often considered a dunce who wants to lecture everyone, while Hurvínek is always a whiny and snippy son who puts me on the spot with his probing questions. Enough explaining, let's play something together. Finally, I would like to add something from history. I first introduced myself in the autumn of 1920, when I performed alongside Kašpárek as a trapeze artist. Since 1926 I have been cast in plays together with my son Hurvínek, which was written in the same year. Games based on our dialogue quickly gained considerable popularity. Radio programmes, gramophone records and books were also recorded and published. In 1930 the first Czech professional puppet theatre, the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre, was founded.
