What are Heishi beads?
Heishi beads (read "hishi") are small flat beads that were traditionally made from shells, stones or bones. Their origin comes from Indian tribes. Nowadays they are commonly made of polymeric material (fimo), wood or various minerals. Heishi beads are popular for making bracelets or ankle chains. They combine beautifully with pearls, gold components or pendants.
