The game offers three categories according to difficulty. The "Student" category contains common words, "Professor" is for fans of books and movies, and "Director" will test even the most ardent fans. Time's Up! Harry Potter is played over 3 rounds. The first round is in the spirit of free description, where the explaining player tries to describe concepts to his team without restrictions (with a few exceptions, such as spelling). In the second round, the challenge increases, the explaining player is only allowed to use one word for each concept and the team only has one attempt. The third round brings the most fun, the explaining player uses pantomime and is only allowed to hum or make noises, but may not speak. The winner is the team that guesses the most cards in all three rounds.
