The TP-Link EAP655 wall WiFi access point is a wall-mounted gigabit access point designed for modern networks that require high performance and a discreet installation. It operates on the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and offers a combined dual-band speed of up to 2976Mbps, split into 2402Mbps on the 5GHz band and 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. This WiFi 6 access point efficiently serves a large number of clients thanks to OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies. Its optimised design for mounting in standard installation boxes is ideal for deployment in hotel rooms, offices or university halls of residence. Centralised management via the Omada SDN platform simplifies the configuration and monitoring of the entire network, while Power over Ethernet (PoE+) (802.3af/at) facilitates deployment without the need for additional power cables.

Wi-Fi 6 performance and advanced technologies
The access point operates on the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and works in two frequency bands. On the 5GHz band, it offers a transfer speed of up to 2402Mbps with HE160 channel support, and 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. To increase network efficiency under high load, it uses OFDMA and 2×2 MU-MIMO technologies, which divide channels into smaller subcarriers and serve multiple clients simultaneously. In addition, Beamforming technology actively focuses the signal directly on connected devices, improving connection stability and range.
Coverage, roaming and security
The device is designed to cover a single room of approximately 50m² and can handle more than 120 concurrently connected clients. Thanks to its support for 802.11k/v/r standards, clients switch smoothly between access points without any connection drop. To protect the network, the access point supports modern WPA3 Personal/Enterprise encryption and offers the ability to create separate guest networks with their own captive portal and VLAN.
Centralised management with Omada SDN
Complete management is handled centrally via the Omada SDN platform. This integrates network devices into a single interface and provides management from the cloud or locally. Administrators can configure and monitor the network remotely via a web browser, a dedicated hardware controller (Omada OC200/OC300) or a software controller. The Omada app is used for quick access and management from mobile devices.
WiFi access point connectivity
The wall-mounted access point includes a total of four gigabit ports. One port serves as an uplink with PoE+ (802.3at/af) power support for connecting to the network. The remaining three ports function as a downlink for wired connections to end devices. In addition, one of these downlink ports provides PoE output to power another device, such as an IP phone or camera.
